GSRP
4 years to 5 years
Our GSRP classroom serves children who are 4 and 5 years old and is typically attended during the year prior to kindergarten. A child’s eligibility to attend GSRP for one or two years is determined by their date of birth and the time of enrollment at Stepping Stones.
The GSRP classroom maintains a 1:10 teacher-to-child ratio, ensuring individualized attention and a supportive learning environment. At Stepping Stones, we are committed to providing not only high-quality care, but also intentional, developmentally appropriate education. Our dedicated teaching team values strong partnerships with families and works collaboratively to support each child’s growth while respecting the unique needs of every family. We strive to create a warm, inclusive environment where families feel connected and supported as part of our community.
During their time in the GSRP program, children are supported in developing the following skills:
-
Understanding the concept of time and the sequence of daily routines (e.g., breakfast in the morning, lunch in the afternoon, and dinner in the evening)
-
Counting ten or more objects
-
Correctly identifying at least four colors and three shapes
-
Recognizing some letters
-
Writing their name
-
Following two- to three-step directions (for example, “Put your book away, wash your hands, and sit on the carpet”)
-
Communicating clearly using more complex sentences
-
Demonstrating an increased attention span
-
Recognizing familiar environmental print, such as common signs like “STOP”
