Winter is a great time for children to get outside, stay active, and enjoy the snow—but staying warm and safe is important! The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends dressing children in several thin layers, along with warm boots, mittens or gloves, and a hat. Wet clothing should be changed right away, and children should take regular indoor breaks to warm up.
Keep an eye on the wind chill, watch for signs of frostbite or hypothermia, and always provide appropriate supervision during activities like sledding, ice skating, and playing in the snow.
A little preparation can help make winter play safe, healthy, and FUN!
